Snow Week - and gone

Cari Amici e Famiglia,

This week really flew by.  We were able to get out and teach quite a few lessons.  On Tuesday as we were beginning our DDM we looked outside it had begun to snow.  And it snowed the rest of the day until there was around 5 inches on the ground.  It melted the next day and I was happy it did because my shoes are no longer waterproof.  In our lessons we have been teaching a lot about the Godhead.  I have gotten a new prospective on the importance of knowing the true nature of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.  It's such a basic doctrine and still there is a lot of confusion unfortunately.  It makes me grateful for the restoration of the church of Jesus Christ and the guidance of modern day prophets.  This Saturday we will have transfer calls and I hope to stay and continue to work with our investigators and members.

Have a great week!

Half Tooth

Cari Amici e Famiglia,

It was a pretty good week.  Work wise we were able to teach a good amount of lessons and we are seeing some progress.  On Friday we celebrated my comp's birthday by eating some burgers at the place where we went for my birthday.  It was pretty good the second time, too.  We also made another trip up to Castrovillari and Saracena to visit members and lessactives.  We also went really quick to the American goods store to pick up some candy.  They were out of skittles unfortunately and a lot of other stuff so we settled for a few other items including laffy taffy.  My poor companion began to eat some when he felt something hard as he chewed down.  Apparently a piece of his tooth fell off due to the high level of chewiness of the candy.  The hilarity of him missing half a tooth and the irony of his eating of candy continually were too much for me.  I was laughing so hard that I even began to cry.  Then we ate a ton of food: a solid ragù pasta, 4 or 5 large pieces of baked chicken, baked potatoes, salad, and some slices of artisan bread.  The nice members didn't want any leftovers
so we were obliged to eat and keep on eating until it hurt.  Then on Sunday the mission president and his wife came to church here in Cosenza.  Our investigator and him became instant friends so we were happy.  Afterwards we were invited to eat with some members and the mission president and I again ate a ton.  I won't burden you with all the stuff on the menu but it was good.  I was feeling pretty skinny before this weekend so this week I am going to have to double pack down on the fruits and vegetables and small portions at home.  I hope y'all are well and happy both spiritually and temporally.  Buona Settimana!

Working Ill Week

Cari Amici e Famiglia,

My companion and I have been sick for the majority of the week with runny noses and sore throats and achy heads.  It probably was due to playing soccer on Monday, getting sweaty, and then being outside where it was cold and rainy.  We weren't sick enough to stay inside though and we actually taught more lessons than usual funny enough.  As of this morning the mosquito problem has been solved after a lot of scotch tape was consumed covering every crack and hole that could be found in the bedroom.  No more waking up with that cursed buzzing in the ear!  Besides that not a lot of cool stuff happened.  We saw a lot of members.  We ate a lot of pasta, fish, pizza, and fried stuff. Also today we might have gotten a couple of suits given that this month and the next there are crazy saldi (sales) going on.  Alla prossima!

A New Year

Cari Amici e Famiglia,

We had a really good week and New Years.  We started off by going to Crotone to do a few baptismal interviews for a married couple who got baptized a few days later on Saturday.  We also sang some carols in a mental hospital which was a first for me and also a really good experience. They loved it a lot although we were a little out of tune (or a lot... especially a guy near me).  After all was done we ate some fresh calzones which were a euro a pop.  I went back for seconds. The Crotone Anziano house is nice... And very clean which was a pleasant surprise.  It is on a hill that overlooks the city and the coast.  Beautiful view and nice open floor plan.  The next day we went to their district meeting and were treated to some lasagna made by the wonderful senior couple.  Later in the week was New Years obviously and it was pretty nice for us.  We ate, played games, and spent some time with investigators and members.  Lots of bomb like fireworks (probably would be illegal in America) went off and continue to go off randomly.  Lots of puke could be found on the streets the next morning too.  We gave our house a deep clean and I am enjoying the fresh smell of bleach now.  We got some good work going now and found some new investigators.  Today we did some zone soccer and managed to change our reservation to an indoor field which was nice because it has been raining all day.  Have a great week!!
